Adding Your Character
On the Characters page exists a list of all character profiles. This is the first place you should add your character name. Please take care to preserve both the formatting and sorting that is already there.
If you find your character name is already being used on the page, do not attempt to take it over for yourself. Ultima Online doesn't require unique names, but the wiki does require unique page names. You can always add your surname, title, shard name, or guild to your character name to make it different. Here are some examples:
| What is seen on the page
| What is seen when editting
* Arthur * Arthur Penny * Arthur "The Bunny Slayer" * Arthur (Catskills) * Arthur - Knights of Ni |
Alternately, you could save yourself some time and grief by simply appending your wiki username to your character pages, then hiding it in the link. Here is an example:
| What is seen on the page
| What is seen when editting
* Arthur |
This provides three distinct advantages. First, you are guaranteed that it will be unique, since your wiki username is unique. Second, no one can dispute the page isn't for your character with your username appended to it. And third, it doesn't rely on information that might change over time. Such as switching shards or changing guilds might require you to change your page name if you used that information to make it unique.
The only pitfall is that the page in the example will have the title "Monty:Arthur" when you view it.
Adding Multiple Characters
If you have multiple characters and would like others to know this, then we suggest that you provide a link to your User Page in each of your character pages. Then in your User Page have a list of all your characters. You can access your User Page by clicking on your username at the top of the wiki, after you've logged in.
Alternately, you could provide the links directly in each of your character pages, but then you may be duplicating your efforts.
