Akalabeth

Akalabeth, also known as the Lands of Lord British, is the continent in the Ultimas that Lord British arrived upon. He happened upon Shamino's cottage near Kesper and thus began his adventures in the Ultimas. Lord British gained renown battling the elf, Darthaniel Wynterbirch, who freed the devils of Hells Gate and bound them to his will. Darthaniel was obsessed with the infamy of Aritoth El'bashir and jealous that it was a human and no elf that had left his mark upon the world. He endeavored to conquer the Ultimas to show the greatness of his own race. In the end, he failed to conquer Akalabeth and fled to Heartwood in Britannia where he took on an alias.

Akalabeth is derived from the Ultima 1 maps as well as the name of Richard Garriot's first game, which was called Akalabeth.
